This Week “Dub Dub” Edition
2 years ago I was lucky enough to attend the 2014 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC or Dub Dub). That year iOS 8, Yosemite, the Health App and HealthKit were announced. Needless to say, I was amazed by the entire conference, but one undeniable feeling was a sense that amazing things were happening. Not just in tech, not just in design and not just in healthcare but in the convergence of all of them. This year, sadly I did not get to attend.  However, from this weeks announcements and Keynote, that sense that great things are happening is present once again, and it feels great!

The following articles both dropped this week and reveal a unique disparity. In the first article, Andy Weissman of Union Square Ventures describes the continued progress of healthcare devices and technologies while in the 2nd article James Madara, CEO of the American Medical Association practically labels #mHealth apps the 21st century version of snake oil.  So what the heck does this have to do with product design in healthcare? EVERYTHING.  Because VCs and MDs represent two sides of the same coin.  And if both can actualize the value of emerging healthcare models and technology, we might actually fix the problems we set out to solve with design.
